>Grüße aus Österreich!

>

Greetings from Vienna, Austria! The group arrived here early yesterday afternoon. While everyone was sad to leave Brussels, we were all looking forward to a new adventure.

With the weekend free to do as they pleased, the group went their separate ways to do some sightseeing. Activities were as varied as the participants on the trip! Some opted to take advantage of Europe’s open borders and visit Prague or Budapest. Others stayed to soak in Vienna’s beauty and culture (and schnitzel). Members of the group that stayed visited Schloß Schönbrunn, marveled at Stephansdom, toured the city, caught a performance, attended a rally for Iran, and/or enjoyed some local culinary delights.

Hopefully the members group will share their individual experiences. I had the pleasure of attending a performance of Verdi’s Requiem last night in Stephansdom, and the experience was indescribable. Between the talent and the beautiful atmosphere, one could not ask for a better reintroduction to the city of Vienna.

After two days of “rest,” however, the group gets back to work tomorrow. We have meetings at the Austrian Ministry for European and International Affairs and the US Mission to International Organizations in Vienna.

This week will aslo include visits to the US Mission to the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the European Space Policy Institute (ESPI), the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bratislava, and the United Nations in Vienna (UNOV). It should be a great week!
